Aakash Rooms & Cottages, Peytons Hill Road

Central, welcoming and unhurried
Aakash sits within a kilometre of Ooty’s town centre, close to the railway station, the bus stand and the lake — so joyrides on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a walk to the boathouse or an evening at Charring Cross are all close at hand.
We keep things simple: clean, comfortable rooms across seven categories, freshly prepared home-style food served to your room, a furnished balcony to sit out with a cup of tea as the mist drifts past, and a helpful team that has been welcoming couples, families and larger groups for years.

Freshly prepared, home-style food
Home-style food, served to your room
Meals at Aakash are served through in-room dining — breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, freshly prepared by our kitchen. Our chef is happy to customise dishes to your preferences, including milder food for children.
For the misty evenings
Ooty turns cold and quiet after dark — so the hotel keeps its own entertainments. A foosball table waits in the play room, and the first-floor common area keeps carrom and chess set up beside the sofas. Guests tell us their best evenings were spent there, between dinner and a second pot of tea; children approve, and so, quietly, do the adults. Board games, cards, books and toys are also available on demand — just ask at the desk.

The view from our balconies
Mist, eucalyptus, tea and homemade chocolate
Ooty sits at 2,240 metres in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve — rolling tea country, counters of Ooty’s famous homemade chocolate, botanical gardens, Victorian-era lanes and a famously gentle climate. From Aakash, the lake, the Botanical Gardens and Charring Cross are all close at hand, and our travel desk can arrange sightseeing further afield.
Questions guests often ask
How close is Aakash to the railway station and bus stand?
We are about half a kilometre from Ooty railway station, near the bus stand, and roughly a 15–20 minute walk from Charring Cross, Ooty’s shopping centre. Ooty Lake and Thunder World are a five-minute drive away.
Which room should we choose?
Standard rooms (150 sq ft) suit couples and small families and are in our annexe block, barely fifty feet from the main building; Premium Standard rooms (100 sq ft) are small and cheery — ideal for individuals, couples or a family travelling with an infant — and are in the main hotel building. In the Luxury category, Luxury rooms (193 sq ft) suit medium-sized families, the Luxury Suite (506 sq ft) adds a private sit-out, and the Luxury Triple (480 sq ft) sleeps three adults and two children in a room with a separate interior bedroom. Family rooms (180–300 sq ft) and Premium Family rooms (260–350 sq ft) suit larger families and groups. Our Rooms page compares all seven categories, and you are welcome to call us for advice.
Do you serve food?
Yes. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner are freshly prepared by our kitchen and served through in-room dining. Meals are charged separately, and dishes can be customised to your preferences.
Is parking available?
Yes — parking at the hotel is free, and our staff will assist you on arrival. Space inside the premises is limited and the approach road is on a slope; ample parking is available on the main road, barely thirty feet away, under round-the-clock CCTV surveillance. Parking there is the standard practice for hotels in this part of town, and the road is broad.
Do the rooms have heaters and hot water?
All rooms are equipped with geysers for hot and cold water. Ooty evenings are cold for much of the year, and room heaters are available on request for an additional charge.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 1.00 pm and check-out is by 11.00 am. Early check-in or late check-out depends on availability on the day — please call ahead and we will do our best.
Can you help us plan sightseeing?
Gladly. Our travel desk can help arrange local sightseeing, taxis and paid pick-up or drop, and activities such as horse riding or mountain cycling.
